Just days before Thanksgiving, the Get Well Soon box was left anonymously on my front porch. Upon further inspection, I found a box full of beautiful, hand-made cards from people I do not know.
Apparently, Lyndsey, who I have never met, and who created The Stationery Place (the.stationery.place.blogspot.com), "thought a card drive would be fitting." In her words, "I announced the drive on my blog two weeks ago and have sat back and been amazed at the cards pouring in, all directed toward your family." She apparently teamed up with Cherry Blossoms (she has maintained her anonymity, who created Prayers For Daddy Hill (prayersfordaddyhill.blogspot.com), who also publicized the card drive.
The cards are hand-made and beautiful and the messages magnificent: messages of love, faith, and encouragement.
Lyndsey and Cherry Blossom and all of those who created these beautiful cards: you are true examples of love - for a family you have never met. May the Lord's blessings always be with you.

I enjoy reading your progress and the courage you have shown. You continue to be in my prayers as well as your family, physicians and others involved in your care.

Rich,
I found this today and it made me think of you. I thought maybe it could brighten your day like it did mine. :)
"The wounds in his hands, feet, and side are signs that in mortality painful things happen even to the pure and the perfect, signs that tribulation is NOT evidence that God does not love us. It is a significant and hopeful fact that it is the wounded Christ who comes to our rescue. He who bears the scars of sacrifice, the lesions of love, the emblems of humility and forgiveness is the Captain of our Soul. That evidence of pain in mortality is undoubtedly intended to give courage to others who are also hurt and wounded by life..."
