As a result of many tender mercies of the Lord, I enter the University of Utah hospital on December 15 for the long-awaited and prayed-for second bone marrow transplant (stem cell replacement). Starting on Dec. 10, I begin out-patient chemotherapy. The transplant team will be preparing Vicki (for her donation of stem cells) and me over the next few weeks.
We continue faithful that Vicki's immune system transferred to my body will annihilate the cancer cells. We are so very grateful for your prayers, fasting and thoughts.

Rich, this is your friend from São Paulo, Brasil, Marcelo. I see your progress. Hope all the best and I know you will have it.
On my end, I had a Non-Hodgkins lymphoma of the Mediterranean in 2005 in my duodene. After 10 applications of a new drug called Mabitera, I had a clean bill of health from the doctors in the Brasil and in the States.
I thought I was out of the hook, when last week in a check up for a colonoscopy, I decided to ask to Doc to also do an endoscopy. Wow !!! Surprise ! I was diagnosed with a gastric adenocarcinoma in its very beginning stage (lucky me). In my case, differently from you, my friend, I will probably have my entire stomach removed and if all goes well, no chemo will be needed.
Long ago, I have become a Buddhist and I do pray to all Buddhas and bodsatvas of all directions that they too be behind you with all their love and compassion.
Drop me an email if you can at marcelo@thiollier.com
All the best and remember: our experience is nothing more than a memory waiting to happen. We live the moment, with faith and love, compassion and belief.
Take care, Rich
Marcelo

I have heard that bone marrow transplant is becoming successful and its success rates are increasing. Genes mismatch results in success of bone marrow transplants. Bone Marrow Transplantation is removal of the sickly part from a patient and replacing it with a normal complement from a donor.
