Rich was admitted to the ICU on Sunday. His kidneys were not performing very well, so they have been giving him fluids, a breathing tube, feeding tube and he is heavily sedated. There are so many little hurdles he needs to overcome before his breathing tube can come out -though he is breathing well on his own.
Right now, he has about 80 lb of water in him which they are trying to remove. He is now on dialysis.
On the bone marrow side, the good news is that Vicki's stem cells have engrafted and his white cell count has more than doubled... so we are hoping they fight for him.
Yesterday they took down the sedation to see how responsive he is to commands and he squeezed Kathy's hand and opened his eyes slightly at the nurse's command. This a good step towards being able to take the breathing tube out.
Please keep him in your prayers.
