Second Clean PET Scan! Hallelujah II!
My second clean PET scan since my second bone marrow transplant was CLEAN! Again, our gratitude for your faithful prayers and the tender mercies of the Lord.
Welcome and thank you for your faith, prayers, love, and concern
History: On March 3, 2008, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Large B Cell Aggressive. I had a tumor in my left abdomen about the size of a grapefruit, which was impacting my kidney and spleen. Immediately, I sought opinions from M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, who recommended chemotherapy (R-CHOP) which failed. I then completed RICE chemotherapy which failed.
After a wonderful priesthood blessing, in February, 2010, I entered the University of Utah hospital for 30 days for an auto stem cell replacement (bone marrow transplant using my stem cells). After 90 days in remission, my cancer returned. After two different types of failed chemotherapy, including BEXAR Beam, I was given a test dosage of Revlimid, a cousin of the ugly thalidimid of the 50s and 60s. Revlimid immediately reduced the size of the tumor, relieved my pain and qualified me for a second bone marrow transplant.
After a wonderful priesthood blessing, on December 15, 2010, I entered the hospital again for an allogeneic stem cell transplant (a matched donor's stem cells). My wonderful sister, Vicki, was a perfect match for the transplant and she gave her stem cells that I might live. After a precarious stay in ICU with a raging infection (intubation and a close call with death), I survived to leave the hospital after 45 days. Another example of the Lord's tender mercies and the power of your faith, fasting and prayers.
Since January, 2011, my PET scans have been clean. I am working part-time and enjoying life with my wonderful family.
I want to be a cancer survivor - delivered from this disease by the tender mercies of the Lord because of our faith unto power (1 Nephi 1:20).
